SIIM invites you, and members of your department, to apply for funds to support original research in imaging informatics. Researchers within your institution may be interested in two grants offered by SIIM, each totaling $50,000. We would appreciate your bringing the grant program to the attention of appropriate individuals in your department. ELIGIBILITY Residents, fellows, graduate students, or faculty may apply for SIIM research grants. Preference will be given to projects at SIIM institutions and projects that contribute to the development of careers of new or prospective researchers. Residents, fellows, and students must conduct their projects under the guidance of experienced investigators. NATURE OF PROJECTS Any area of research involving medical imaging informatics is eligible for support, as well as development of new hardware, software, or processes to support electronic imaging practice, education, or research. SELECTION CRITERIA The following guidelines will be applied to proposals: 1. Will the project make a significant contribution to the field of imaging informatics? 2. Are the specific aims and study objectives clearly stated? 3. Is the study well-designed? 4. Does the applicant have the ability, training, and experience to carry out the project? 5. Are adequate institutional resources available to carry out the project? THREE NEW GRANTS In addition, SIIM is pleased to announce three new grant initiatives beginning in 2008: 1) a small grant program for imaging informatics training and product development support, 2) an emeritus mentor grant, and 3) a micro grant program.
