From: Rex Jones <rex.jones@radiology.ucsf.edu> Subject: Limited Submission Proposal Opportunity: Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation Young Investigators Program To: RADFACULTY1@ITSSRV1.UCSF.EDU List-Help: List-Unsubscribe: List-Subscribe: List-Owner: The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation has released the above named RFA. The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation makes grants to non-profit research institutions to promote research in chemistry and the life sciences, broadly interpreted, and particularly to foster the invention of methods, instruments and materials that will open up new avenues of research in science. The Beckman Young Investigator (BYI) Program is intended to provide research support to the most promising young faculty members in the early stages of academic careers in the chemical and life sciences. Link: <http://www.beckman-foundation.com/byi.html>Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation Projects should show promise for contributing to significant advances in the research fields of interest to the Foundation. They should represent innovative departures in research rather than extensions or expansions of existing programs. Proposed research that cuts across traditional boundaries of scientific disciplines is encouraged. Projects are normally funded for a period of three years. When extraordinary circumstances warrant, support may be provided over a one-year or four-year period. Grants are normally in the range of $300,000 over the term of the project. The Foundation does not provide for overhead or for indirect costs. A budget report is not required at time of application. If an award is granted, one will be requested at that time. Eligibility: The program is open to persons with tenure-track appointments in academic and non-profit institutions that conduct fundamental research in the chemical and life sciences. An applicant should not have completed more than three full years in his or her tenure-track or other comparable independent research appointment. Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States at the time of application. No more than two (2) candidates may apply from any one institution. The Office of Sponsored Research will conduct an internal review to select the UCSF applications to move forward. <http://grants2.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-06-406.html> Interested applicants should submit by July 6th via email to the address on the Limited Submission Preproposal Cover Sheet the following items in one PDF file: 1) the Limited Submission Preproposal Cover Sheet with signatures (form is attached to this email) 2) Curriculum Vitae (two pages maximum) 3) Brief description of the proposed research (three-five pages) 4) Letters of recommendation The Contracts and Grants deadline is September 24th and the full application deadline for the agency is September 28, 2007 Mary Lyall Office of Sponsored Research University of California, San Francisco Suite 320, Box 0962 3333 California Street San Francisco, CA 94143 - 0962 Ph: 415.502.5213 Fax: 415.502.1971 -- Rex Jones Research Administrator Department of Radiology University of California, San Francisco 3333 California Street, Suite 375 San Francisco, CA 94143-0629 Tel: 415-502-8700 Fax: 415-502-7493 Attachment converted: Macintosh HD:Preproposal_Cover_Sheet.doc (WDBN/«IC») (000D6817) |
