Dear Colleague:

The third RSNA Clinical Trials Methodology Workshop will be held in Scottsdale AZ from January 5-11, 2008. This week-long workshop series was started in 2006 and is now an annual event. Junior researchers (faculty, fellows or advanced residents) have an excellent opportunity to immerse themselves in the art and science of preparing a protocol for a clinical study of an imaging modality. They are guided in this effort by a cadre of highly qualified faculty from all disciplines involved in the development of protocols for the clinical evaluation of imaging modalities. The program includes didactic sessions, one-on-one mentoring, small discussion sessions, self-study, and detailed protocol development.

This is a tremendous opportunity for faculty members, or prospective faculty members, in your department to learn some of the skills needed for rigorous clinical research. Although this is not a grant-writing workshop per se, the skills learned in this workshop will increase the likelihood of success in obtaining grant or other funding for clinical trials. The investment from your department for travel and housing costs is relatively minor in relation to the potential benefits.

For more information on the workshop and the application process please go to http://www.rsna.org/Research/educational_courses.cfm or view the attached flyer.

Application deadline: June 5, 2007

Daniel Sullivan, MD and Constantine Gatsonis, PhD
