Reaching Out to The Community

kids The Goldberg Center participated in “Kids at UCSF Day: Promoting Equity for Girls and Boys,” a community outreach program for fifth-graders from San Francisco's Hunter's Point neighborhood. Breiman guided 50 students through the Radiology Department, demonstrating various imaging modalities. The students particularly enjoyed taking stereoscopic 3-D voyages through the human body and a hands-on ultrasound session, in which they scanned their abdomens. As a souvenir, they all received an image of their liver, spleen, pancreas, gall bladder, or a kidney. Breiman and Reser received certificates of appreciation from the Executive Vice Chancellor for their involvement in the program.

Capital Projects & Facilities Management Project Manager, Diane McGee is the volunteer coordinator of the program and can be reached at: DMcGee@fm.ucsf.edu. More information about Kids at UCSF Day can be found at:  http://www.ucsf.edu/cge/kids/.
