Pediatric Radiology

The UCSF Pediatric Radiology Section offers pediatric patients and their families the opportunity to have access to the newest generation of high technology equipment resulting in the most sophisticated diagnostic examinations interpreted by world recognized experts. Pediatric radiology subspecialty expertise is provided in the following areas: Helical CT; MRI; Bone Mineralization Studies; Pediatric Neuroradiology; Oncologic Imaging; Endocrine Problems; Ultrasound including fetal and color Dopple; Cardiac MRI and Cardioangiography.

Office Telephone: (415) 353-1384 - FAX: (415) 476-0616

Research Directions:

  • Application of advances in imaging technologies to investigation of pediatric disease
  • Labeling of various cell types with targeted contrast agents and in vivo tracking of these cells with magnetic resonance imaging
  • Study of differences between umbilical cord blood derived progenitor cells and peripheral blood derived progenitor cells
  • Potential of bifunctional-fluorescent and paramagnetic-contrast agents to trace intravenously injected human hematopoietic progenitor cells in a murine xenotransplant model using optical and MR imaging
